When I started working in the Third World Countries, I found it more urgent to continue discovering the least expensive ways to provide routine medical care, plus remedies for all common diseases, conditions and minor injuries. 

I see poverty stricken owners and children bring their dogs and cats to our spay and neuter clinics, grinning from ear to ear, proud that they are doing the right thing for their pet, but...

We also have volunteers picking up strays and injured pets in the streets and dirt roads at an alarming rate.  We have people willing to care for them, but very little financial resources.  We can't afford to take them all to the veterinary clinic, so we have to improvise and do the best we can with what we have so we can help more of them.

This is where I really put my veterinary experience to work.  I know how to treat almost anything very inexpensively.  As things come up that I don't know how to easily treat, I will make phone calls to veterinarians and do massive medical research until I come up with easily affordable solutions to help these people and their pets.

After a while, I started making up simple instruction sheets with various inexpensive and easy treatments to hand out to the pet owners, caretakers and our volunteers as they need them.  Soon I had tons of these instruction sheets with inexpensive cures that the owners or foster families could do themselves with little or no cost. 

The other volunteers started suggesting that I combine them all into a program so that I could help even more people with their own pets and help more rescue organizations be able to help more animals, So...
